Historically, Coleus were shade-loving plants and would not tolerate full sun but some new cultivars are sun tolerant. Plants grow between 6 and 36 inches tall and often nearly as wide as they are tall. Various combinations of green, yellow, pink, red and maroon are common foliage colors.

Rosemary is a hardy, drought-tolerant plant that can thrive in a variety of growing conditions. It has a potent fragrance that repels common garden pests, like Japanese beetles, carrot flies, slugs, and snails.

Basil needs full sun — at least six hours of direct sun each day — and rich, moist, well-drained soil. Raised beds are ideal for growing basil, because the soil warms up faster in spring than the soil in in-ground beds. Loosen soil to a depth of at least 8” and mix in some compost and slow-release fertilizer.

The common sunflower (Helianthus annuus) is a member of the daisy family Asteraceae. It is a large annual forb with a green stem covered in coarse hairs and broad leaves with serrated edges. The flower is actually a pseudanthium, or flowerhead, made up of many small flowers. The common sunflower can grow up to 10 ft tall and blooms spring through summer.

Zucchini originated in Italy in the late 1800s and was likely brought to the United States by Italian immigrants in the 1920s. The name comes from the Italian word zucca, which means "squash".

Harvesting: Harvest basil when the plants have 6–8 leaves, removing enough of the stem so that only 2–4 leaves remain. After the seedlings have produced their first six leaves, prune above the second set to encourage the plants to start branching. Every time a branch has six to eight leaves, repeat pruning the branches back to their first set of leaves.
Water cabbage deeply and infrequently while trying to maintain even soil moisture. One inch of rainfall per week is good. Water in the morning and at the base of the plant, keeping the foliage dry.
Improve native soil by mixing in several inches of aged compost or other rich organic matter. Okra loves the heat and can withstand a dry spell, but do your best to give plants 1 inch of water every week. Harvest okra pods when they are 2 to 4 inches long.
Rosemary is usually robust and healthy when grown in suitable warm, sunny, well-drained conditions. Waterlogging and severe cold can cause problems: Wet soil or potting compost, especially in winter, can cause roots to rot and die, so ensure there is always good drainage.
